[00:00:10] GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE. MORNING. IT'S SO GOOD TO BE HERE IN A NEW YEAR WITH ALL OF YOU TODAY. THANK YOU FOR JOINING US FOR THE AUSTIN TRANSIT PARTNERSHIP BOARD OF DIRECTORS. I WOULD LIKE TO CALL THIS MEETING TO ORDER. TODAY IS JANUARY 27TH, AND THE TIME IS 10:38 AM WE'RE IN THE A TP BOARDROOM AT 2 0 3 COLORADO STREET IN AUSTIN, TEXAS. AS A REMINDER, THE AUSTIN IN TRANSIT PARTNERSHIP PROVIDES BOTH AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE AND OTHER INTERPRETER SERVICES, AND WE WILL KINDLY ASK 24 HOUR NOTICE AND NOTIFY CHLOE MAXWELL, WHICH YOU WILL FIND HER CONTACT INFORMATION ON EACH AGENDA POSTING. I BELIEVE TODAY WE HAVE ONE PUBLIC, UH, SPEAKER SIGNED UP FOR, UH, TO ADDRESS THE BOARD. HER NAME IS, OR HIS NAME IS ANDY ROCHA. YOU HAVE THREE MINUTES TO SPEAK. WELCOME. UM, OUR COMMENT DID NOT REQUEST. IT IS, OKAY, SO IT'S ANDY ROCHA HERE IN THE AUDIENCE, NOT ON. OKAY, GREAT. UM, SO TODAY IT IS A VERY [1.Official Seating of New Board Member] AUSPICIOUS DAY AS WE SIT OUR NEW BOARD MEMBER AND WELCOME MAYOR WATSON. SO I UNDERSTAND YESTERDAY YOUR COLLEAGUES APPOINTED YOU TO THIS BOARD, AND WE ARE SO HONORED TO HAVE YOU HERE TODAY. UM, YOU ARE REPLACING, UH, MAYOR ADLER, WHO ALSO SAT HERE ON THIS BOARD, AND WE'RE DELIGHTED TO HAVE YOU HERE TODAY. SO WE ARE REALLY GRATEFUL NOT ONLY FOR THE BREADTH OF YOUR EXPERTISE FOR THE YEARS YOU'VE LED, NOT ONLY OUR CITY, BUT THE STATE OF TEXAS AND OUR REGION. SO WE'RE EXTREMELY HAPPY AND HONORED TO HAVE YOU JOIN US TODAY. I'M VERY PLEASED. THANK YOU. SO, UM, I'D LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO SAY A FEW COMMENTS. I THINK I JUST DID . I, I'M VERY HAPPY TO BE PART OF THIS BOARD. I'M EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT THE WORK THAT THIS, UH, AGENCY DOES AND WHAT WE NEED TO DO. UH, WE HAVE, WE HAVE CHALLENGES, BUT I LOOK FORWARD TO BEING A PART OF, UH, MAKING SURE WE MEET THOSE CHALLENGES. SO, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, MADAM CHAIR. THANK YOU, SIR. WELCOME. DOES ANYONE ON THE BOARD WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS, UH, AND WELCOME OUR NEW BOARD MEMBER? NO. . SHE'S LIKE, NO, PLEASE, NO ALL SAID, HI. WELCOME. WELCOME. SO, BEFORE WE MOVE ON TO OTHER ITEMS, I WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE ALSO GINA PAKA, TODAY'S HER LAST MEETING, AND SHE'S DEPARTING US TO BECOME THE SECRETARY OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS, WHICH IS A HUGE HONOR. AND, UH, GINA, YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS HAVE BEEN IMMEASURABLE, NOT ONLY AT THE BIRTH OF PROJECT CONNECT, BUT WHAT HAVE YOU ADVANCED THE ENTIRE CITY TO MOVE. WE'RE GONNA MISS YOU DEARLY. WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU BECAUSE I KNOW THAT EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD COULD SAY THEY HAVE A FRIEND NOW IN MASSACHUSETTS THAT WILL BE WITHIN REACH BECAUSE YOU WERE ALWAYS WITHIN REACH FOR ANY OF US, FOR ANY QUESTIONS, FOR ANY ADVICE TO HOLD OUR HAND THROUGH THIS PROCESS. I'M EXTREMELY HONORED TO KNOW YOU. I'M EXTREMELY GRATEFUL TO HAVE HAD YOU IN THIS, IN THIS JOURNEY. AND, UM, I'M GONNA MISS YOU SO MUCH. SO THIS TIME, I WILL PLEASE INVITE THE ENTIRE BOARD TO SAY A FEW WORDS FOR GINA , BECAUSE I THINK YOU DESERVE A GOODBYE FROM EACH OF US. WELL, SHE DESERVES A HAND. YES. WELL, WELL, MY ONE REQUEST IS THAT YOU KEEP, UH, THE SAME CELL PHONE NUMBER SO THAT WE CAN FIND YOU WHEN WE COME UP THERE TO VISIT. AND, AND A GOOD LIST OF RESTAURANTS TALK GREAT WAY. I'LL JUST SAY ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, WELL, FIRST OF, I'LL SAY ON BEHALF OF ME, UM, I, I'M EXCITED TO BE IN THE MAYOR'S OFFICE, BUT ONE OF MY DISAPPOINTMENTS, AND I'VE TOLD YOU THIS, IS THAT WE'RE NOT GONNA HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK DIRECTLY TOGETHER, UH, BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN IMPRESSED AND, UH, HAVE ENJOYED WATCHING THE GOOD WORK YOU'VE DONE. UH, YOU'RE, YOU'RE GOING TO BE MISSED, UH, AND, AND BY ME PERSONALLY, BUT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, UH, I THINK OUR CITY MANAGER SAID IT WELL WHEN HE SPOKE OF THE LOSS THAT WE HAVE WITH YOU NOT BEING IN THAT POSITION. WE'RE ALL PROUD FOR YOU AND HAPPY [00:05:01] FOR YOU AND, UM, UH, WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK, BUT YOU WILL BE MISSED. AND WE THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU'VE GIVEN TO OUR, OUR HOME KINS. UM, WHERE DO I BEGIN? GINA'S BEEN A, A GOOD FRIEND AND A CONFIDANT, AND I THINK THE RELATIONSHIP THAT A TP HAS, THE CLOSENESS WITH THE CITY IS LARGELY, UM, ON GINA'S SHOULDERS. I THINK THE SUCCESS THAT, THAT, THAT WE HAVE WITH THE CITY HAS BEEN, UH, AND VERY IMPORTANT. UM, I'M EXCITED FOR GINA TO BE MOVING ON TO THE DOT IN MASSACHUSETTS AS AN OLD MASSACHUSETTS BOY FROM NEWTON. I'M EXCITED TO SEE SOME OF THE, UH, UH, THINGS THAT WILL HAPPEN IN MASSACHUSETTS, AND HOPEFULLY THOSE NEW BRIDGES IN CAPE COD WILL GET BUILT. SO, CONGRATULATIONS, . NO PRESSURE. GINA. IT HAS BEEN SUCH A PLEASURE AND HONOR TO GET TO KNOW YOU AND, UM, TO BE ABLE TO SAY, WE KNOW YOU WIN. WE KNOW THAT YOU ARE GOING HOME TO BOSTON AND THAT, UM, THIS IS MORE OF A RETURNING HOME. BUT I HOPE YOU WILL ALWAYS, UM, KEEP A LITTLE BIT OF AUSTIN IN YOUR HEART. UM, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING YOU'VE DONE FOR THIS COMMUNITY. IT, IT REALLY HAS BEEN TRANSFORMATIONAL AND, UH, YOUR FOOTPRINT WILL BE HERE FOR A VERY LONG TIME. THANK YOU. WELL, I GUESS THAT LEAVES IT TO ME. UM, THIS IS, THIS IS BITTERSWEET. THIS IS HARD FOR ME. UM, I THINK THE FIRST THING THAT WE SHOULD ALL KNOW IN THIS ROOM, THAT OUR WORDS UP THERE ON THE SCREEN, UM, COME FROM GINA. SHE GOT TO LABEL THIS, THIS NEW THING THAT, THAT WE ARE NOW, TWO YEARS LATER, AFTER THIS COMMUNITY WORKED SO HARD, UM, TO COME BACK AGAIN AND GET A BIG INVESTMENT IN OUR FUTURE, UH, WITH TRANSIT. AND I THINK IT SPEAKS VOLUMES TO WHO GINA IS AS SHE EMBEDDED THAT WORD PARTNERSHIP, UM, INTO US, INTO OUR DNA THAT WILL BE HERE REALLY FOR A VERY, VERY LONG TIME. AND OF ALL THE LEGACIES THAT YOU'RE GONNA HAVE, WHICH ARE MANY OF THIS IS A REALLY DEEP ONE THAT IS PERSONAL. UM, I REMEMBER ABOUT A WEEK AFTER GINA, I GAVE HER ABOUT A WEEK AFTER SHE STARTED AT CITY HALL, I KIND OF WANDERED OVER THERE THIRD FLOOR AND KNOCKED ON HER DOOR AND SAID, WELL, WE GOT A LITTLE SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT. AND, UH, STARTED SPARKING UP THIS CONCEPT OF, UH, WHAT WE ENDED UP IN AN ELECTION IN, IN 2020. AND HER STEWARDSHIP INSIDE THE CITY, UM, WITH THE COMMUNITY, UM, AND WITH US HELPING TO LIFT THIS OFF THE GROUND, THIS ENTIRE, UM, ENERGY THAT WE HAVE HERE IN THIS BUILDING, IN THIS COMMUNITY, UM, HAS BEEN INVALUABLE. AND THEN PERSONALLY FOR ME, UM, IT'S BEEN ONE OF THE GREAT PROFESSIONAL, UH, RELATIONSHIPS AND FRIENDSHIPS THAT I'VE HAD, UM, OVER, OVER, OVER THESE YEARS. IT'S BEEN, IT'S BEEN FANTASTIC. UM, IT'S A LOSS, BUT SO HAPPY FOR WHERE YOU'RE, WHERE YOU'RE GETTING TO GO BACK AND YOU GET TO DO BIG THINGS BACK, UM, IN YOUR HOME STATE. SO, UM, AS, AS COMMISSIONER SAID, WE HAVE YOUR, WE HAVE YOUR SPEED DIAL AND I THINK WE'LL KEEP USING IT, UH, FOR A WHILE. BUT THANK YOU FOR LEAVING US WITH ALL OF THIS. IT'S FANTASTIC. WELL, THANK YOU ALL. UM, WHAT CAN I SAY? SO MANY KIND WORDS HAVE BEEN SAID ABOUT ME. UM, BUT ALL OF THIS REALLY IS ABOUT YOU, ABOUT THIS COMMUNITY, ABOUT THE TRUST THAT YOU'VE PLACED IN US TO BUILD AND DELIVER A TRANSIT SYSTEM AND SOME OF THE OTHER PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES THAT I HAVE BEEN SO BLESSED TO WORK ON, ON BEHALF OF THIS COMMUNITY, UM, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF SPENCER CRONK AND, AND OUR MAYOR AND COUNCIL, AND, AND MAYOR WATSON, I SO DEEPLY APPRECIATE YOUR KIND WORDS, AND I REGRET THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO, UH, WORK CLOSELY AND DIRECTLY WITH YOU AND TO SERVE YOUR ADMINISTRATION. UM, BUT THERE YOU ARE. SO WELL POSITIONED HERE UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF INTERIM ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER, ROBERT GOODE, WHO'S HERE WITH US, AND THE PROJECT CONNECT TEAM THAT WILL BE SUPPORTED, UH, BY THE CITY MANAGER AND BY INTERIM CITY, CITY MANAGER ROBERT GOODE. HE IS WELL, WELL VERSED TO CONTINUE THIS WORK. AND SO ARE YOU. THIS BOARD IS, IS AMAZING AND COMMITTED. UM, AND I WILL BE WATCHING THIS GREAT WORK FROM MASSACHUSETTS. I WILL BE, UH, ONE PHONE CALL AWAY WITH THAT SAME CELL PHONE THAT PROBABLY EVERYONE HERE HAS BY NOW. UH, BUT, UH, IT, IT'S BEEN AN HONOR AND A PRIVILEGE TO SERVE WITH, WITH THIS BOARD CHAIR AND ALL OF YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. SO WE HAVE A TRADITION HERE ON THE BOARD NOW THAT WE WILL PRESENT YOU WITH A TOKEN OF APPRECIATION, BUT WE ALSO CELEBRATE OUR NEW MEMBERS [00:10:01] THAT JOIN THE BOARD. SO IT'S BOTH A PHOTO OP FOR DEPARTURE AND WELCOME. SO VERY UNIQUE AT THIS TIME. BUT ONE THING THAT WE'D LIKE TO SAY ABOUT THE, THE TOKEN OF APPRECIATION THAT WE HAVE SELECTED FOR YOU, GINA, IS THAT I HOPE YOU ALWAYS TAKE AUSTIN WITH YOU. IT'S A SNAPSHOT OF AUSTIN, BUT FROM THE VANTAGE POINT OF, OF YOUR MORNING RUN. AND ONE THING THAT I LOVE TO SAY IS THAT YOU HAD, UM, I LOVE WHEN YOU SAID I PUT YOU PUT MORE MILES ON YOUR SHOES THAN YOU PUT ON YOUR CAR. AND YOU GOT TO KNOW THIS CITY BY FOOT AND BY RUNNING IT EVERY CORNER OF THE CITY, YOU LEFT YOUR IMPRINT. AND I AM HONORED TO KNOW YOU AND I'M SO INSPIRED BY YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH. AND WITH THAT, I'D LIKE TO HAVE THIS PHOTO UP AND IT'S OH, YES. MOVE UP HERE. YES. YOU HERE? YES. IN FRONT. YEAH. USUALLY IN FRONT THERE. YEAH. A LITTLE FROM YOUR MORNING. FROM THE BUTTERFLY BRIDGE. MOVING ON TO OUR NEXT AGENDA ITEM. [3.Executive Director Report] I WILL NOW RECOGNIZE OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, MR. CANALI, FOR A BRIEF REPORT. THANK YOU. THANK YOU, CHAIR. UM, JUST REAL QUICKLY, THIS IS A, WE LIKE TO EACH, UH, WITH EACH BOARD MEETING, DO A QUICK HIGHLIGHT OF, OF WHERE THE ORGANIZATION IS AND SOME OF THE UPCOMING ACTIVITIES UNDER THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REPORT. UM, SO LET ME JUST QUICKLY WALK THROUGH. ONE AS A BOARD WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IS THAT CONCEPT OF READINESS AS AN ORGANIZATION. CERTAINLY WE'RE WORKING THROUGH THE PROJECT AND UPDATING THE LIGHT RAIL DRAFT IMPLEMENTATION PLAN. UM, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, WE HAVE TO BE LOOKING BEYOND AND LOOKING FORWARD TO US AS AN ORGANIZATION, UH, BEING READY TO, UH, DELIVER WHAT THE AUSTIN VOTERS HAVE ASKED US TO DELIVER. UH, WE, WE LAUNCHED OUR READINESS ASSESSMENT TOOL AS AN ORGANIZATION IN THE FALL. UH, WE'RE PLEASED THAT WE'VE ALREADY COMPLETED THE FIRST PHASE OF THAT. UM, AND THAT, UH, ENT REALLY WAS TALKING ABOUT STRUCTURING RESOURCE IN OUR ORGANIZATION. WE TALKED WITH BOTH INTERNAL FOLKS AND EXTERNAL EXPERTS ABOUT WHO WE NEED TO BE AS A NEW AGENCY. UM, AND FIRST AND FOREMOST, WE WANTED TO LOOK AT ALL OUR PERSONNEL, OUR RESOURCES, AND OUR OPPORTUNITIES FOR THAT. SO REALLY TWO PHASES. AND THE FIRST IS RESTRUCTURING OUR SENIOR, UH, MANAGEMENT TEAM TO DELIVER A STRATEGY. AND THEN WE'LL BE MOVING ON BEYOND THAT WITH THE GAPS IN THAT DELIVERY STRATEGY AS WE WORK WITH DELIVERY STRATEGY FOR INDUSTRY. SO ON THE NEXT SLIDE, UM, WANTED TO TALK REALLY QUICKLY ABOUT SOME CHANGES THAT WE JUST ANNOUNCED. UM, I THINK THE BIGGEST THING THAT WE'VE DONE AND IS TO ALIGN, UH, OUR BUSINESS AND LEGAL SERVICES STRATEGIES ALTOGETHER UNDER BUSINESS AND LEGAL FAIR. UH, OUR EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OVER BUSINESS AND LEGAL AFFAIRS, CASEY BURAK, WILL BE TAKING THAT FUNCTION ON INCLUDING OUR PROCUREMENT FUNCTION, WHICH HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY UNDER FINANCE. WE THINK GIVEN THE VERY, UM, WE HAVE, WE HAVE LOW VOLUME, BUT HIGH IMPACT, UH, CONTRACTS COMING UP THAT ARE VERY, HAVE A LOT OF LEGAL COMPONENTS AND STRATEGIC COMPONENTS. AND SO CASEY LEADING THAT EFFORT WILL BE FANTASTIC. UM, OUR ORGANIZATIONAL DEPARTMENTS WILL BE OUR BUSINESS AND LEGAL AFFAIRS. WE'VE ALSO BROUGHT OUR COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP. I WANT TO, UM, UH, UH, COMMEND AND, AND, AND THANK COURTNEY CHAVEZ FOR STEPPING UP INTO THAT ROLE, WORKING WITH JULIA CAMPBELL, OUR EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OVER COMMUNITY AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS. UM, AND THEN CONTINUING ON OUR ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION AS WELL. SOME CHANGES IN THE STRATEGY, UM, WITH LOOKING AT DESIGN AND LOOKING AT CONSTRUCTION AND LOOKING AT INTEGRATION ACROSS THAT ORGANIZATION. SO THIS ALLOWS US TO BE VERY WELL ALIGNED AS WE MOVE FORWARD ON OUR READINESS. UM, WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THESE CHANGES, AND THEY WERE, THEY WERE GREAT TO DO BECAUSE WE HAVE SUCH A TALENTED TEAM HERE, UH, TO BE READY TO MOVE FORWARD. AND THAT WAS THE RATE, THE REAL JOY OF GETTING TO GO THROUGH THIS EXERCISE. UM, SO WE'RE REALLY, WE'RE, WE'RE READY AND WE'RE THANKFUL, UH, FOR OUR TEAM, UH, MOVING FORWARD. [00:15:02] UH, ON THE NEXT SLIDE, I WANNA TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT, UM, WHAT REALLY DROVE THAT. AGAIN, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE ARE READY FROM AN EXECUTION PERSPECTIVE. AND WE LOOKED AT OUR TALENT AND REALLY CLEARLY WHERE WE WERE. WE KNOW THIS FROM THE ENO REPORT, MAKING SURE THAT WE HAD CLEAR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AGAIN IN THIS WORLD WHERE WE'RE A NEW INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATION FOR ONLY SIX MONTHS. WE HAVE BOTH OF THOSE WORKS TO DO, GETTING US READY AND GETTING THE PROGRAM READY. AND SO WE'RE IN A REALLY GREAT SPOT SITTING HERE IN JANUARY OF 23. UH, ON ANOTHER TOPIC, I JUST WANT TO THROW A QUICK NOD LOOKING AHEAD, UM, UH, OF WHERE WE ARE. ONE OF THE THINGS ON THAT NEXT SLIDE, CHLOE, UM, YOU, THIS BOARD KNOWS THAT WE NOW HAVE, WE NOW PRODUCE A MONTHLY, UH, PROJECT CONNECT STATUS REPORT THAT IS IN YOUR BACKUP. AND THIS INCLUDES UPDATES AND HIGHLIGHTS ON THE OVERALL PROGRAM WHERE WE ARE IN A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. UM, AND ADDITIONALLY WHAT WE JUST TALKED ABOUT FROM AN ORGANIZATION, WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT THERE'S ONE PLACE WHERE THIS BOARD CAN GO AND THE COMMUNITY CAN GO TO SEE WHAT WE'RE DOING. UM, YOU'LL HEAR THIS ME SAY THIS A LOT, UH, AT THE CORE, YES, WE'RE HERE TO, TO DELIVER PROJECT CONNECT, BUT, UH, WE'RE A COMMUNITY CORPORATION AND WE NEED TO MAKE SURE WE'RE ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT HOW THE COMMUNITY, UM, CAN INTERACT AND REFLECT WITH US. SO IN THAT NOD, I WANNA DO A BRIEF LOOK AHEAD, UM, TO SOME KEY, UH, KEY PRIORITIES FOR FEBRUARY. UH, WE'RE GONNA COME BACK, UH, AND TALK MORE ABOUT WHERE WE ARE IN THE STATUS OF THE UPDATED LIGHT RAIL IMPLEMENTATION PLAN. IF YOU RECALL, IN SEPTEMBER, WE LAID OUT A VERY DETAILED HONEYCOMBED EFFORT TO, UH, WORK BREAK THE WORK APART ON LIGHT RAIL. AND WE, WE PROVIDE YOU AN UPDATE ON WHERE WE ARE ON, ON DELIVERING THAT, UM, DELIVERING THAT WORK. UM, TALK ABOUT WHERE WE ARE ON THE OVERALL DELIVERY OF THAT, THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH INDUSTRY. AS I MENTIONED, THE LAST BOARD MEETING, WE'VE HAD A CHANCE TO VISIT WITH, UM, LOTS OF INDUSTRY FOLKS AND VISIT WITH PEER PEER AGENCIES AND CITIES AROUND THE COUNTRY AND REALLY AROUND THE WORLD TO THINK ABOUT WHAT IS THE BEST MODEL. WE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO TALK ABOUT THAT IN, IN THE NOVEMBER BOARD MEETING, AND WE'RE GONNA COME BACK IN FEBRUARY AND LAY OUT, UH, OUR, OUR APPROACH TO THAT. UH, IT'S TIME TO DO THAT. AND THEN LASTLY, SOMETHING I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT, UM, AUSTIN TRANSIT PARTNERSHIP HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY, UM, IN THE, IN THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT TO HAVE A WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PLAN, UM, FOR LIGHT RAIL. WE'RE VERY LUCKY THAT OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE COURTNEY AND, UH, AND, AND JULIA CAMPBELL WORKING ON THIS. BUT REALLY OUR PARTNERS IN THE COMMUNITY WITH WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS, AND WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH THEM, UM, TO HELP LIFT THAT, LIFT THAT WORK UP TOGETHER. UH, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO COMING BACK IN FEBRUARY, UM, FOR THAT ARRANGEMENT AND THAT AGREEMENT WITH THEM. SO, LOTS OF WORK. UM, WE'RE GONNA HAVE A VERY IMPACTFUL BUT OPTIMISTIC HERE AT A TP AND IN THE COMMUNITY. GREG, I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT BRANDON WILL BE SITTING ON THE DATA. THAT'S NEXT, RIGHT? THANK YOU. YES. BOTH EXCITED. AND ONE OF THE ITEMS, UH, OF RE TAKES ALL THESE ADDITIONAL, THIS WILL ACTUALLY BE CASEY'S LAST MEETING, SITTING . THIS WILL BE CASEY'S LAST MEETING SITTING ON THE DAIS WITH US. BUT WITH THAT , UM, VERY EXCITED TO HAVE BRANDON CARR, ATP'S, NEW GENERAL COUNSEL, UM, LEAD US HERE ON THE DAAS, UM, AND REALLY BE OUR POINT OF CONTACT, HIS EXPERIENCE, NOT ONLY WITH THE CITY OF AUSTIN, BUT IN FORT WORTH FROM A WIDE RANGE OF BOARD ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS CONTRACTING. AGAIN, SUPER EXCITED THAT WE HAVE, UH, BRANDON WITH US AND ALLOW HIM TO JOIN US HERE WITH YOU, UH, ON THE DAAS. SO REALLY EXCITED. THANK YOU FOR THAT. YEAH. I GUESS I WAS IN A MOMENT OF, UM, OF BOTH WORLDS. MADAM CHAIR. YES. IF I MIGHT SAY SOMETHING, UH, ONE OF THE THINGS, AND I'M GLAD THIS SLIDE'S STILL UP. UM, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I JUST WANT TO HIGHLIGHT, BECAUSE I'M VERY HAPPY TO SEE THAT PART OF THE KEY PRIORITIES IS, IS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT. UH, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I RAN ON AND SAID WE WERE GONNA TRY TO DO WAS HELP ADDRESS AFFORDABILITY IN THIS COMMUNITY, IN PART BY MAKING SURE WE WERE DOING RIGHT BY THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN THIS TOWN. WELL, OKAY, YOU JUST SAY THAT I , UM, AND, AND, AND MATURE OUR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PARADIGM. AND WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS, TOO OFTEN OUR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PARADIGM IS AT THE END OF EVERY YEAR, WE COUNT THE NUMBER OF W TWOS WE'VE ISSUED OR CREATED. AND I, AND I'M NOT SAYING I WANT US TO, I WANT US TO KEEP CREATING THOSE JOBS, BUT THERE'S MORE TO IT THAN THAT. AND THIS, THIS PROJECT, UH, I 35, THE AIRPORT, ALL OF THE, UH, TISSUE BEHIND ALL OF THAT WITH OTHER PROJECTS WILL BE GOING ON. THIS CREATES A REAL OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO DO WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT IN A WAY WHERE WE CAN FOCUS ON PEOPLE THAT LIVE HERE TO GET [00:20:01] THEM INTO THOSE JOBS AND PUT THEM ON CAREER PATHS. AND I, AND I'LL HAVE MORE TO SAY ABOUT THAT AT ANOTHER POINT IN TIME, BUT I'M VERY PLEASED THAT PROJECT CONNECT OR A TP IS ALREADY MOVING FORWARD ON THAT BECAUSE IT WILL, UH, FOLD IN BEAUTIFULLY TO WHAT I THINK WILL BE A A, WE, WE WILL USE THESE GENERATIONAL PROJECTS TO MAKE A GENERATIONAL CHANGE IN MATURING OUR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT. SO THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MAYOR. ANY ANY, YEAH, MEMBER AKINS. NOW I, I WOULD JUST ADD ONE THING TO WHAT THE MAYOR SAID. I TOTALLY AGREE, BUT IT'S ALSO A KEY RISK TO THIS PROJECT AND TO MANY PROJECTS AROUND THE COUNTRY WHO'S GONNA BUILD ALL THIS INFRASTRUCTURE. SO CREATING THE WORKFORCE IS OBVIOUSLY THE RIGHT THING TO DO FOR THE LOCAL ECONOMY, BUT IT'S CRITICAL TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS LABOR FORCE IS THERE TO BE ABLE TO BUILD THIS PROJECT OR ELSE IT'S, IT'S NOT GONNA GET BUILT YES. AND MAINTAIN IT RIGHT ONCE IT'S RUNNING FOR THE LONG TERM. SO ANYBODY HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FOR OUR DIRECTOR? I'D LIKE TO JUST SAY IT. THANK YOU, CASEY, FOR JOINING US ON THIS DAY TOO, BECAUSE YOU GUIDED OUR HAND THROUGHOUT SO MANY MEETINGS AND TWO YEARS WORTH OF EFFORT. SO BRANDON, WELCOME TO JOIN NEXT TO US NEXT, UH, AT OUR NEXT MEETING. AND CASEY, DO YOU HAVE ANY WORDS YOU'D LIKE TO SAY? OH, I'LL JUST SAY YOU ARE IN A VERY GOOD HANDS WITH BRANDON . I'M ALWAYS LOOKING AT HIM FOR ADVICE AS IT IS. SO, AND THANK YOU. IT'S BEEN, UM, INCREDIBLE AND I'M EXCITED. I'M GONNA BE ON THE STAFF'S TABLE NOW TALKING TO YOU GUYS ABOUT WHAT'S COMING. SO IT'S, THANK YOU, CASEY. IT'S, IT'S A, AND THANK YOU GREG FOR RECOGNIZING MY SERVICE AND, UM, ELEVATING ME IN. YES, THANK YOU. SO MOVING ON. AND I'D LIKE TO KIND OF, SORT OF INCLUDE THAT IN, IN THIS COMMITTEE'S RESPONSIBILITY. SO, UM, WE CAN LOOK INTO THAT WHEN, WHEN WE LOOK AT THE CHARTERS AND SO WE HAVE KIND OF CHARTERS FOR THE COMMITTEES AND WHAT THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES ARE. AND I THINK WE'RE, WE'RE GONNA KIND OF DO A ZOOM OUT AND LOOK AT GOVERNANCE OVERALL. SO THAT'S SOMETHING WE CAN TAKE NOTE OF AND THANK YOU. YEAH. APPRECIATE IT MADAM CHAIR.
